Assist: Active Service member deployed

Problem:

The wife of a serving deployed member needed assistance to repair a hole in the entry way near the front door. She has young children and was concerned for their safety. The hole was covered with a loose piece of plywood. When we went to inspect the issue, we found broken tiles and deteriorated floor sheathing which was caused by the water intrusion from the front entry door and trim.

Solution:

Hammers for Veterans worked with a New Hampshire Home Builders Association member from Brix & Stix Construction to remove the broken floor tiles and deteriorated floor sheathing. We patched the hole with new plywood and installed new 12×12 floor tiles. We also replace the front entry door with a new Thermatru 9 lite entry door including new locks. The Veteran and his wife were very pleased with the results – making it safer for them and their children to come in and out of the front door. All the expenses paid for by Hammers for Veterans.

Donated Value: $2,740
